When the COVID 19 crisis first hit the UK\u00a0<\/strong> we ( Batt Sails, that is )\u00a0 responded really quickly to the call for quantities of PPE face protection by using materials and methods we found right here in the sail loft.\u00a0\u00a0 Even corrugated cardboard was being considered for one part but eventually not adopted.<\/h6>\n

The design brief<\/strong> I set was for it to be, affordable, durable, cleanable and most essentially,\u00a0 available.<\/p>\n

A lot of very important\u00a0 \u00a0 “…..ables” !!<\/p>\n

The slightly tenuous Wombles link<\/strong> crossed my mind when I found this old, old, clipping from the New Zealand Herald.<\/p>\n

In the past year the team here at Batt Sails is proud to have made and distributed thousands of high-grade visors to all corners of the UK on a not-for profit basis.<\/p>\n

We also repurposed the sail loft for many weeks, using CAD and our huge robotic sail-cutting faciity to cut hundreds\u00a0 and hundreds of sets of hospital\u00a0 ‘scrubs’ to help the volunteer sewing groups supplying\u00a0 the demand in local hospitals.\u00a0 See this in action here<\/a><\/p>\n
